How to Get Your Business on Google Maps in Pakistan

Google Maps pin with star reviews over a shop

If a customer searches "tailor near me" or "dentist in Okara", Google shows a map with a short list of businesses. To appear there, you need a Google Business Profile. Creating one is free. What matters is doing it carefully, because mistakes can delay verification or get a profile suspended.

This guide walks through the process in plain steps, and flags the mistakes we see most often.

Before you start: check if you are already listed

Open Google Maps and search for your business name and your area. Sometimes a profile already exists, created by a customer or from public data. If so, you can claim it instead of creating a duplicate. Duplicates confuse customers and can cause problems later.

What to gather first

  • The real name of your business, as it appears on your signboard
  • A Google account that belongs to the business, not a personal account you may lose access to
  • Your full address, and a clear idea of where the pin should sit
  • A working phone number and, if you have one, a website
  • Opening hours, including days you are closed
  • A few clear photos of the shop front, inside and your products or work

Step by step

  1. Go to the Google Business Profile website and sign in with your business Google account.
  2. Enter your business name exactly as customers see it in real life. Do not add keywords or locations to the name.
  3. Choose the most accurate main category. Add other categories only if they truly describe you.
  4. Choose whether customers visit you at a location, or you travel to them. If you travel, you may be able to list a service area and hide the address.
  5. Enter the address and place the map pin carefully. Zoom in and check the pin sits on your building.
  6. Add your phone number, website and hours.
  7. Start verification. Google shows the options available for your business. Options vary, so follow the on-screen instructions.
  8. After verification, add photos, a short description and your services or products.

Mistakes that cause trouble

  • Stuffing keywords into the business name, such as "Best Cheap Salon Okara"
  • Using a fake address or a virtual office to look more local
  • Creating several profiles for one business
  • Leaving hours blank or outdated, so customers arrive when you are closed
  • Buying reviews or asking friends who have never used your service

How to earn genuine reviews

Reviews help customers choose you. Ask happy customers at the moment they are most satisfied, such as after delivering an order or finishing a service. A QR code on the counter or receipt that opens your review page makes this easy. Reply to every review politely, including the critical ones.

Never offer money or gifts in exchange for reviews. It breaks Google policy.

How long until you appear?

It depends on verification, competition and how complete your profile is. Nobody can promise a position on the map. A complete, accurate, well-reviewed profile gives you the best chance.
